One of the most important and oldest towns in the Mount Hermon area, Hasbaya is located in a long fertile valley below Mount Hermon in South Lebanon. Its main historical attraction is the Italianate Renaissance-style palace of the 18th century Chehab family built in 1173 by the Crusaders as a watchtower on top of the ruins of a roman temple, and restored during the Ottoman period. The town is also known for its production of beautiful traditional clothing, such as abayas and caftans.
